A white Christmas?

This winter is shaping up to be England’s
-
Significant snowfall was seen in Enfield this weekend making a white Christmas seem very likely
coldest in decades with temperatures struggling to get above freezing even in
the middle of the day and heavy snow disrupting transport across the country.
Enfield has already seen its fair share of
snowfall. Over the weekend several inches of snow fell across the borough,
beginning around mid-morning on Saturday and continuing through much of the
day. Local residents enjoyed wintry activities including skating outside
Enfield Library and many gardens had more than enough snow to build a snowman but train services from both Enfield Chase and Enfield Town into London struggled to cope and most services were delayed, some significantly.
This week is likely to see further snowfall
and more disruption to local transport can be expected. On Monday afternoon a
few centimeters of snow are forecast for much of London and although this is
expected to skirt south of the city Enfield is likely to see at least a few
flakes. This morning most rush hour trains were delayed at both stations with some services running over an hour behind schedule.
The final days before Christmas are
currently looking to be almost constantly below freezing with nighttime
temperatures of up to minus 10 a possibility. The snow is extremely unlikely to clear in these temperatures and with more forecast over the coming days a white Christmas is likely to be a reality in Enfield this year.
