Time to move?

Throughout 2010 house prices in Enfield have been on the up again and with the economy rallying, now is a good time to sell if you want to be in a new home for Christmas.

With the property market recovering, is it time to move house?
Over the past couple of months I've lost count of the number of flyers from local estate agents coming through the letterbox, asking me if I want to sell up. But is it a good time to sell?
According to www.home.co.uk the current average asking price in Enfield is £385,627, up from £228,000 in June 2009 and £323,709 in June 2010. This is inflated by the types of homes on sale but prices in all categories are up, including flats (up 22% year-on-year June-June), so if you want to achieve a good price on your home, now is probably a good time to put your property on the market and try your luck.
But are there any buyers out there? The banks have pulled in the reigns on mortgages recently, making it mre difficult for people to borrow money to buy a house, especially if they're doing it for the first time. But local agents Ian Gibbs and Lanes have both put flyers out recently asking for sellers so clearly there must be buyers on the hunt. Mortgages are also apparently becoming slightly easier to come by than they have been so first-time buyers will return to the market over the coming weeks and months.
If you're planning to sell your home there are numerous estate agents in the local area. On Windmill Hill try Ian Gibbs or Barnfields, head for Lanes, Haart, Bairstow Eaves or Ellis & Co in the town centre, and on Hertford Road try Smart Move, Andrews & Co or Castles.
Have you used one of Enfield's local estate agents recently? Were you happy with them? Let us know below.
