Planned upgrade work to the Piccadilly line, which runs into central London from Enfield's nearest underground station, Oakwood, is under threat thanks to financial cutbacks and a row over funding.

According to the Evening Standard, the Government and Tube Lines are involved in a row over a funding gap of £1.4billion. Tube

Lines, which is also responsible for

the Northern and Jubilee lines, has confirmed

the Piccadilly Line upgrade, which would include 91 new trains, is "at

risk" and Terry Morgan, Tube Lines' chief executive, said if the

funding gap is not filled "the greatest risk is the upgrade of the

Piccadilly line".

This is bad news for commuters on the line who would have benefited from new, larger trains with increased capacity and faster journey times to and from central London. The Piccadilly line is the third busiest on the tube network and is used by over 650,000 passengers every day. Are you one of them? What do you think about the proposed cutbacks?
