Enfield Town suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Potters Bar Town to record their fourth loss in five games to slide to 11th in Ryman Division One North.

A Tom Pett header in the first half proved decisive for the Scholars after Town goalkeeper Rob Blackburne mistakenly called for a high ball into the box and allowed Pett to steal in a flick the header over the stranded keeper.

As the game wore on and tempers frayed a rough challenge from Rudi Hall sparked a melee which saw Bar's Chris Doyle shown a second yellow card for his part.

Town managed a few decent chances in the second half and Adam Wallace missed a header from close range when it seemed easier to score.

Town were reduced to 10 men late in the game after midfielder Richard Morton was shown an extremely harsh red card while trying to shield a ball out of play.

Town manager Steve Newing was understandably disappointed with the result saying " We should have got something from the game but it was the same failings again that have cost us. We're shooting ourselves in the foot at the minute and another individual error has cost us dear."

Towns next match will be away to Hendon in the Championship Manager Cup on Tuesday 23rd November.
