Enfield Council are considering changing

the Enfield Town controlled parking zone which covers much of the area in and

around the town in an effort to improve the system for residents and

businesses.

Those living and working inside the zone or

within close proximity to it are being sent a leaflet which asks for their

views of whether they think the current scheme is working and what could be

changed in order to improve it. Residents and businesses must fill in one

section if they live or work within the zone and another if they live or work

just outside it – both will be used to determine how (and indeed if) the

parking restrictions around Enfield town centre should be changed.

More information is available from Danny

Luu of JMP Consultants (who are carrying out the questionnaire on the council’s

behalf) at danny.luu@jmp.co.uk or on

020 7536 8063. The questionnaire can also be completed online here.

I have every sympathy with you - I believe you should be able to park there at all times. Because of my disability a disabled bay was put outside my house for my use but almost anyone can use it. At the end of my road there are two restaurants, a gambling club and a car repair business all of them use 'my' parking bay. Some of them have Blue Badges (not necessarily genuine or their own) and others don't. If I call Enfield Parking they can take several hours to attend by which time the drivers will have moved their vehicles. Often people will park in the bay even though there are other spaces available so I park elsewhere. When they leave (often after I have gone to bed) it means there is a vacant space outside my house which decent neighbours won't use and at the same time I have parked elsewhere taking a space that would have been available to someone else.
There may come a time when drivers don't park in spaces allocated to others, but I won't hold my breath.

As somone who lives within the parking zone I have to pay £75 a year to park my car outside my own house. And yet on a Sunday and in the evenings I have to compete with everyone else for a space as the permit scheme isn;t running. I think the parking zone should be resiudent permit holders only at all times. We're paying for it after all.
