Enfield Council have announced their first

Create2Learn Conference, a free one-day conference entitled “Learning together

through arts and creativity”, which aims to bring together local creative

artists and performers with teachers from Enfield schools.

Taking place on Tuesday October 19 at the

Dugdale Centre on London Road, the aim of the conference is to bring together headteachers,

teachers and governors, with arts and creative industries practitioners including

artists, designers, performers and arts organisations, to provide a unique

opportunity to learn together and network with like-minded arts and creative

people in the borough.

The conference will provide thinking,

discussion, case studies, group work and a planning workshop using the medium

of drawing. Numerous key speakers will be in attendance including keynote

speaker, Eileen Adams, who is director of power drawing, focusing on a

professional development programme for the Campaign for Drawing, the aim of

which is to embed the use of drawing as a medium for learning in educator’s

practice. Eileen will provide an overview of linking arts, design and

environmental education with case studies.

Other speakers include Emma Ghafur of Tiger

Monkey, who is an expert in arts awards training at national level and in

community engagement work through the arts; Paul Everitt, who is the manager of

Millfield Arts Centre and highly regarded in the performing arts world for

connecting with local communities and presenting high quality performances;

practising artists Rachel Labovitch and Mark Charlton; and staff from both Winchmore

School and Kingsmead School, who will be sharing their best practice in

creative work,

The conference intends to help local arts

practitioners to expand their skills and tools through creativity, to improve

achievement and motivation and to provide access to more information about local

arts and creative resources, as well as providing opportunities to meet with

teachers and other local arts and creative industries practitioners to form

alliances and develop projects.

LONSAS, the London Schools Arts Service,

will also be at the conference to help schools and arts practitioners with

information and resources. LONSAS is the leading online resource for education

and arts practitioners in London, facilitating wider participation in arts and

culture, both in and out of school. LONSAS offers arts and cultural

professionals, schools and educators the tools to develop partnerships and

collaborate.

conference, booking is essential on either 020 8379 1462 or ruth.currie@enfield.gov.uk
