Drawing is key to childrens' development - find out why at the Create2Learn conference
Create2Learn Conference, a free one-day conference entitled “Learning together
through arts and creativity”, which aims to bring together local creative
artists and performers with teachers from Enfield schools.
Taking place on Tuesday October 19 at the
Dugdale Centre on London Road, the aim of the conference is to bring together headteachers,
teachers and governors, with arts and creative industries practitioners including
artists, designers, performers and arts organisations, to provide a unique
opportunity to learn together and network with like-minded arts and creative
people in the borough.
The conference will provide thinking,
discussion, case studies, group work and a planning workshop using the medium
of drawing. Numerous key speakers will be in attendance including keynote
speaker, Eileen Adams, who is director of power drawing, focusing on a
professional development programme for the Campaign for Drawing, the aim of
which is to embed the use of drawing as a medium for learning in educator’s
practice. Eileen will provide an overview of linking arts, design and
environmental education with case studies.
Other speakers include Emma Ghafur of Tiger
Monkey, who is an expert in arts awards training at national level and in
community engagement work through the arts; Paul Everitt, who is the manager of
Millfield Arts Centre and highly regarded in the performing arts world for
connecting with local communities and presenting high quality performances;
practising artists Rachel Labovitch and Mark Charlton; and staff from both Winchmore
School and Kingsmead School, who will be sharing their best practice in
creative work,
The conference intends to help local arts
practitioners to expand their skills and tools through creativity, to improve
achievement and motivation and to provide access to more information about local
arts and creative resources, as well as providing opportunities to meet with
teachers and other local arts and creative industries practitioners to form
alliances and develop projects.

will also be at the conference to help schools and arts practitioners with
information and resources. LONSAS is the leading online resource for education
and arts practitioners in London, facilitating wider participation in arts and
culture, both in and out of school. LONSAS offers arts and cultural
professionals, schools and educators the tools to develop partnerships and
collaborate.
