A fly tipper has been issued with a £80 fixed penalty notice after he was caught dumping rubbish in a much loved Enfield park on Wednesday night (20 Feb).

The borough's parks police, funded by Enfield Council, launched an undercover operation in Durants Park after receiving complaints about unsightly rubbish from park users.

The project bore fruit on Wednesday when a man in his late 30's was caught dumping carrier bags of rubbish near the entrance to the park and was approached by officers who issued him with the financial penalty.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said: "We do not tolerate people who treat our parks like dustbins and I'm delighted this individual has been caught and punished. This will deter him from future illegal behaviour and means Durant's Park can continue to be enjoyed as a safe and pleasant environment for the entire community free from litter and other mess."
